Advanced Clicker Skills: Shaping and Targeting

by Julie Flanery

Ready to move into teaching more difficult or complex tricks or performance sport behaviors? Do you want to move beyond reliance on lure-reward training techniques? With this workshop DVD, you will expand your clicker skills and train advanced behaviors using shaping and targeting. Increasing the use of these skills improves your dog's speed in learning and understanding criteria for new behaviors.

With this 3-DVD set, students will work on already-started or "wish list" behaviors of their choice, as well as on instructor-guided exercises. An understanding of basic clicker training skills will help the student receive the maximum benefit from the material in this workshop DVD.

Topics include:

  • Shape, Target, or Lure?
  • Considerations in Capturing
  • Breaking Down Complex Behaviors
  • Creating a Flexible Training Plan
  • When and How to Raise Criteria
  • Adding Cues to Shaped Behaviors
  • Trouble-Shooting Sessions

Running time: 4 hrs, 55 mins
